Meshack Lufile News & Updates

Meshack is often interviewed and written about by various news and media outlets.

Meshack and his brothers frequent the Canadian headlines

Meshack first had the opportunity to play on a professional team with one of his brothers in the NBL-C when the Halifax Hurricanes added Chadrack to their roster.

Next, Meshack, Chadrack and Abednego all had the opportunity to suit up together for the Guelph Nighthawks in the inaugural season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League last summer.

Professional sports teammates share a common bond. But for two members of the Halifax Hurricanes basketball team, that bond goes much deeper than the team they play for.

Their basketball careers have taken them around the world, but now brothers Chadrack and Meshack Lufile are playing side-by-side for the Halifax Hurricanes.

Like many aspiring athletes, Chadrack, Meshack, and Abednego Lufile had dreams of getting their first scholarship, their first championship, and their first professional contract. Not many aspiring athletes can ever fathom what it would be like playing alongside their siblings at the professional level. While they continue to all have very separate careers, all three of the Burlington, Ontario natives journeys converged this past summer season when Chadrack, Meshack and Abednego all signed with the Guelph Nighthawks for the inaugural season of the Canada Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Their younger brother Elijah is still chasing his dreams of playing professionally and is on the right track having captured a basketball scholarship playing for ORU of the NCAA. I got the very special opportunity to speak with each one of the brothers to find out what it’s really like to have made their dreams a family affair and what it’s like for Elijah to be following in their footsteps.

But, one thing that really stands out is Lufiles shooting. He is averaging 57.6% from the field and 50% from three. That is something Lufile is always working on.

I mean, playing my position, normally my field goal is typically high, Lufile said. But, I always work on my shot. This summer I wanted to join a team to compete for a championship and this is why I came here. I am just doing whatever to help the team win.
